EDIT: There were questions asked about a TX on the 30th for 24.7 BTC that people thought went to a mixer. I asked Lyn what this TX was. Lyn Ulbricht: The 24.7 BTC sent on the 30th was removed from our Blockchain wallet in response to an attempt by the hackers to access that wallet. The 24.7 BTC were moved in a single transaction to the Ross Ulbricht Legal Defense Fund llc Coinbase account. There were no other BTC transactions initiated by us on that day. Those BTC are still in the Coinbase account. We asked Coinbase to freeze the entire account on that same day, since the hackers were attempting to access it also. It remains frozen at the time of this writing. Since the 30th there have been many donations sent to the 1Ross account on the blockchain, including a one BTC donation. We are extremely grateful for the continued support of the community.
I remember some panic years back when Ross Ulbricht was being tried that the feds were going to sell off his bitcoins and tank the market. I just suddenly started wondering: What ever happened to those bitcoins?

So Ulbricth's hearing is on the 21st, an officer stated that all of the bitcoins taken from Silkroad will be liquidated. Once those bitcoins are freed back into the system, what is going to happen to Bitcoins?

I'm chatting with a friend here, and there's something that doesn't quite make sense to me. I'm hoping one of you may be able to provide some insight. I know the FBI confiscated Silk Road's assets, including Ulbricht's Bitcoin wallet. I think it was something around 26,000. The exact number doesn't matter, which is why I haven't bothered to look it up. But those BTC, many are speculating, will probably just end up in an FBI vault for all eternity, forever off the market. It got me thinking about the fact that only 21 million BTC will ever be made. I'm sure this won't be the only incident of BTC being lost. Whether through malicious intent, poor planning, natural disaster, or what have you, the number of BTC will gradually decrease over time once they hit that 21 million mark. Are there any measures in place to keep the supply of BTC going? I feel like Satoshi would have taken this into consideration, judging by how articulate the rest of BTC has been set up.
